Germany India Pool Workshop in Bangalore and Mumbai

GNTO India pool further strengthen itsrelationship with the Indian Travel Trade

The German National TouristOffice ‘India Pool” continues its aggressive plans to promoteGermany as a preferred leisure destination for Indians. The first six months saw an increase of over 19% in the period January to July 2010 over the same period last year. To enhance Destination Germany’s presence in India the Germany India pool conducted road-shows in various metros across India.

The 5 city Roadshow commenced with Ahmedabad and Mumbai in the month of February 2010 followed by Chennai and New Delhi in the month of August 2010. The Germany India Pool visited the cities of Bangalore and Mumbai for the third and final phase of the activity weeks. Besides presentations to the travel trade in each city on the latest updates on attractions on offer in Destination Germany, the India Pool Partners will make personal calls to the agents and tour operator’s offices.This will enable them to interact in detail on issues related to promoting the destination further to discerning Indian travelers.

Romit Theophilus, Director for India GNTO said “The Germany India Pool initiated in early 2009 with the support of 14 partners, has tremendously helped change the image of Germany from a business destination to a leisure destination. Our constant interaction with the travel trade has helped us in creating necessary travel products for Destination Germany. The Germany India pool has invested close to 1 million euro’s in the Indian market since its inception. It has been great interacting and conducting workshops successfully with enthusiastic participation by travel trade professionals eager to offer this attractive destination to consumers. These roadshows which are pan India will cover the important metro markets for Germany".

The German National Tourist Board ‘India Pool’ was initiated inearly 2009 with the support 14 partners coming together to promote their respective regions to the Indian travel trade. It consists of various State Tourism Boards, City Tourism Boards, leading airports of Germany, the association of Magic Cities and Alpha Travel Consultants, the leading incoming operator in Germany.
