With an objective to provide first hand experience of Egypt to the tour operators from key Asian markets, Egyptian Tourism Authority and Egypt Tourism Office, Mumbai is jointly organising the first road show for tour operators in key Asian markets. Starting from 13th October to 18th October 2010, the road show will provide a platform for over 600 tour operators from India, Singapore and Malaysia to interact with key tour operators from Egypt & officials from the Egyptian Tourism Authority. Egypt is indeed becoming one of the top most favoured choices on the itinerary of tourists from India. Egypt has not only been witnessing an increase in global tourists each year but the arrivals from India have also been notably increasing every year. This is a testimony of the popularity that Egypt is gaining amongst the tourists from India and across.
Mr. Samy Mahmoud, Under Secretary, Head of the International Tourism Sector, Egyptian Tourism Authority said, "India is very important to us not only for tourism but more so as a country. Tourists from India have only been increasing each year and we invite more Indians to visit Egypt and experience for themselves the warm hospitality of Egypt. This year we should be hosting more than 1,00,000 tourists from India. By 2015 we expect to host more than 1million Indian tourists. The Egyptian Tourism Authority has been actively working with Egypt Tourism Office, Mumbai and various tour operators & exhibitors from across countries to promote Egypt as an emerging holiday destination. We invest close to 7,00,000 US$ every year in India on various kinds of marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns. For Egypt, tourism is very important as it contributes to 11% of the country's GDP. We target to receive 14million tourists from across the world by the end of this year and increase it to 25million by 2020." Mr. Adel El Masry, Director, Egypt Tourism Office, Mumbai, said, "It's been over a year that I have been given the responsibility to promote Egypt in India and I love this country. It's a very encouraging and important market for us. We are sure that we will surpass our target of hosting more than 1, 00,000 visitors this year and we are very happy that we have already hosted more than 77,000 Indian tourists in the first 9months this year. It's the first road show that Egyptian Tourism Authority and Egypt Tourism Office, Mumbai is organising for our key Asian markets. With this road show, we hope to explore new business opportunities and establish contacts with a larger group of national and international tour operators." |
