RAK Airways, a national carrier of the UAE, has announced the re-launch of its scheduled services with four flights each per week to Jeddah and Calicut. Flights to Jeddah will be on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, leaving RAK International Airport at 08:00 am and arriving in Jeddah at 10:00 am. Flights to Calicut will be on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday leaving RAK International Airport at 22:15 pm and arriving in Calicut at 03:35 am.
Omar Jahameh, CEO, RAK Airways said, "The airline's first two destinations were carefully chosen. Jeddah is the gateway to Saudi Arabia's holiest sites and we expect a steady traffic there, not least for those wishing to perform Umrah or Haj. Calicut is the natural gateway to the Indian state of Kerala from where so many of the UAE's expatriate workforce originate; and I am confident that the re-birth of RAK Airways should strengthen ties between Kerala and Ras Al Khaimah, allowing families and individuals alike to travel home more frequently."
"Since the re-launch of our website -www.rakairways.com in September this year, booking numbers have been extremely positive, with word travelling fast about our "Small Fares, Big Deals' offering. We received over 400 bookings within four hours of the website's unveiling, and interest in our routes and offering has continued to be overwhelming since the announcement of our re-launch last month," added Jahameh.
According to the company release, RAK Airways is positioning itself in the niche market between the well-established commercial airlines and the more recently established Low Cost Carriers (LCCs). Although fares are competitive, starting at AED 10, RAK Airways is focused on providing a value offering that differentiates it from LCCs. Included in the price of each RAK Airways flight is a baggage allowance of 30 kg per passenger, as well as the normal hand baggage allowance, meal and beverages on-board all flights and free shuttle service between the neighbouring emirates for each flight.
