Arunachal Pradesh government has been formulating a master plan to make tourism industry a major player in the economic development of the state. After inaugurating the three-day Arunachal Travel Congress at Tawang bordering China yesterday, Dorjee Khandu, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh said, "A tourism development plan is being formulated to provide economic opportunities to local communities, keeping in mind the preservation of the fragile eco-system and ethnic identity of the people."
Khandu added that Arunachal Pradesh has abundant potential to exploit tourism prospect. He called for collective responsibilities to be shouldered both by the state tourism department and tour operators to bring the state into the world tourism map. Referring to the impressive increase of foreign and domestic tourist inflow in the state in recent years, Khandu exhorted the state tourism department and tour operators to keep the momentum and initiate innovative techniques to lure tourists so that they make Arunachal Pradesh their prime destination.
