Rajasthan's new Greenfield airport will be at Neemrana in Alwar district. According to a report in The Hindu, the location of the new airport, in the emerging industrial hub along the Delhi-Jaipur stretch of National Highway 8, has been decided after considerable debate involving the Central leadership, the State Government and investors. The Greenfield airport will be built in Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode.

The announcement of the new Greenfield airport was made by Rajendra Pareek, Industries Minister, Rajasthan yesterday in Jaipur while addressing the valedictory session of a seminar on “Opportunities in Technical Textiles.” Pareek said the decision on the new airport was taken during the recent visit of Anand Sharma, Union Commerce and Industries Minister. “As Sharma sought the opinion of the State on the location, Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, who held instant consultations among the persons concerned, intimated the choice to the Union Minister,” informed Pareek. There had been some hassle over the location in the past as there were other places such as Shahpura, also in the same belt, competing for the prestigious airport.
