Srinagar Airport will remain closed for maintenance work for 12 days starting from September 3, 2010. However, the government has asked the airlines to ensure uninterrupted air connectivity to the Kashmir Valley using an alternative airport during the Srinagar Airport closure period.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said that normal civil flights will operate to Srinagar Airport up to September 2, 2010 and from September 3, 2010 onwards until resumption of flights from Srinagar Airport, air connectivity to the valley would be provided through Avantipur Airport on the outskirt of Srinagar.
The decision to operate flights services during the 12-day closure period was taken at a recent meeting chaired by Madhavan Nambiar, Secretary, MoCA with all the agencies concerned and the airlines. |
