Leading international hotel operator Accor today said it would open 11 new hotels in India in 2012.
"We continue to be excited about opportunities for growth in Asia Pacific, specifically India. Accor is uniquely placed as the only international hotel group in India with brands that span all segments, from luxury to budget. We are leveraging this unique position to expand in this key market," Accor Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Denis Hennequin said in a release here.
Three of these 11 hotels are already operational, he said, adding the new hotels, with over 4,500 guest rooms, are coming up in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune and Bengaluru.
Currently, the European hospitality major operates 15 hotels in India. Accor's plan to have 90 hotels in the country by 2015 remains on track, Hennequin said.
India is an important growth market and Accor has set up joint ventures with solid investment partners and committed investments to ensure it emerges as a top international hotel operator in the country, he said.
Accor operates six hotel brands in India, ranging from luxury to budget. The hospitality major is present in 90 countries with more than 4,400 hotels and 530,000 rooms.
Accor's broad portfolio of hotel brands include Sofitel, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Suite Novotel, Mercure, Adagio, ibis, Etap Hotel/Formule 1/ibis budget, hotel F1 and Motel 6. It has 145,000 employees worldwide. |
