Russian woman tourist drowns in sea at Puri

 Was dragged into the sea by an undercurrent while bathing with five other foreigners near Swargadwar

A woman tourist from Russia drowned while bathing in the sea atPuri in Orissa today, police said.

The 45-year-old woman, identified as Valutca Irina, was dragged into the sea by an undercurrent while bathing with five other foreigners near Swargadwar, Sea Beach Police Station in-charge officer AmulyaKumar Dhar said.

Though the woman was rushed to a nearby government hospital, the doctors could not save her, Kar said.

She was among a 60-member group of foreigners visiting Puri and was scheduled to leave on Thursday, Kar said.

Her husband an ISKON devotee at Kolkata has been informed, he said.
