Mumbai International Tourism Expo 2010 which was to be held from 7th to 9th Jan in Mumbai has been postponed indefinitely. CEMS, the organisers of MITE have cited fierce crowding in the Travel Exhibition Space in Mumbai during January & February as one of the reasons for postponing the event. Apart from this, exhibitors too have been facing pressure on their budgets with about 4 to 5 Travel Exhibitions taking place in space of just 2 months in Mumbai alone.
Even after postponement of MITE, there are 3 major Exhibitions in Mumbai happening in January & February which includes Times Travel Fair, TTF OTM & ITTE apart from Express Travel world which is a MICE Exhibition. To add more competition, SATTE Delhi is also being held in end of January. Each of the Exhibitions have their own USP with the Times Travel Fair giving complimentary advertisement in their newspapers on buying the stall space, TTF OTM has been around for years with their strong brand presence while ITTE has tied up with TAAI. MITE too had the tie-up with TAFI. With too much competition, exhibitors are feeling the heat with the clients who don't justify back to back Travel Exhibitions.
