An appeal filed by IATA Agents Association of India has been accepted by Competition Commission of India on February 23 February on the issue of CCI imposing a penalty on three associations of Rs 1 Lakh each in the case between Uniglobe Mod Travels vs IAAI, TAAI and TAFI.

Further a written undertaking was sought that they will not indulge in such anti-competitive conduct in future. CCI has sent notices to respondents which include FCM travel Solutions Uniglobe Mod Travels and the next hearing is scheduled for April 19.

In the above mentioned case, CCI had given a ruling which could potentially hurt the workings of associations in particular and travel agent fraternity in general. Interestingly, neither Uniglobe nor FCM were a member of IAAI.
