The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) launched MConnect today, the first smart phone application for any centre in Australia.
To complement this new technology MCEC also launched a mobile version of its website available on all smart phones and iPads.
These innovations further cement MCEC’s position as an industry leader in providing the latest technology and a state-of-the-art experience for its delegates and clients.
Visitors to the MCEC now have an integrated and engaged experience through MConnect that includes:
- Venue maps – to guide visitors through the MCEC
- Discover Melbourne – all the best that Melbourne had to offer at their finger tips
- What’s On - visitors guide to every event at the MCEC
- About MCEC – it’s location, facilities and more
- Getting to and from MCEC – step-by-step directions using Google maps
MCEC’s chief executive Peter King said professionals are increasingly using smart phones and applications to make their life easier in the business world.
“The benefits of MConnect will continue to grow and the MCEC is committed to offering our visitors and clients the latest innovations as they develop.”
MCEC’s director of technology operations Michael Walsh said MConnect was created as a direct response to our industry’s need for new technology.
“We really listened to the findings from Rohit Talwar’s Convention 2020, as well as our regular research that we undertake with TKP Research.
“For instance at the end of 2011 we doubled our free wi-fi service to over 500kbps so now all visitors can access skype.”
MCEC’s clients will also be excited by MConnect with the ability to offer their delegates live event specific content including presentations and up to date room information.
