To provide people of the Millennium City an intra-city mode of transport, Ativa Auto Service with the help of Bajaj, launched an auto-rickshaw service ‘White Xpress’ on Monday. Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena inaugurated the facility.
Earlier, a similar initiative was taken by a few small-time operators, who had introduced tuk-tuk, auto call, pink autos, shuttle bus service and battery-operated rickshaws as the state had failed to address the issue of public transport.
“The CNG-based auto-rickshaw on call service has been introduced as diesel autos emit a large amount of discharge, harmful for the environment. Drivers of diesel autos carry about 10 passengers in one vehicle, putting their lives at risk,” said Pushkar Sinha, regional manager, North, commercial vehicles, Bajaj Auto.
“White Xpress will be available in any part of Gurgaon. Commuters can even book auto-rickshaws online. They need to visit our sitehttp://whitexpress.in. The autos will be available between 6.30am to 10pm. The service is also accessible through a hotline number 0124-4811111. All these facilities will be easy to use, safe and efficient,” he added.
“The autos are fitted with advanced GPS-based tracking system and are monitored round-the-clock. There will be no pick-up charges. For the first 2 km, the charges will be Rs. 40 and thereafter, Rs. 8 per km. The waiting charges will be Rs. 20 for 15 minutes,” Sinha said.
Meanwhile, the administration claimed that the Millennium City will get new buses for travelling within the city. “We are committed to providing commuters a safe public transport,” said Meena. |
