TAFI donates Wheelchair to Chennai Airport

The association took the initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility program

Travel Agents Federation of India which is celebrating its Silver Jubilee year took the initiative for its Corporate Social Responsibility. 

In a function held at G.R.T. Convention Centre, T. Nagar, Chennai on 07 Jan 2012 Mr. Ajay Prakash, President of TAFI formally handed over a wheel Chair, which is part of the 5 wheel chairs, to Mr. E.P.Hareendranathan, Director Chennai Airport (AAI) for the benefit of disabled passengers travelling out of Chennai Airport in the presence of the entire Managing Committee, members of the TAFI Tamil Nadu Chapter and other distinguished guests from airlines and travel industry. 

TAFI had earlier taken a decision to donate 25 wheel chairs to 5 major airports in India as part of its CSR in its Silver Jubilee year. Mr. A. Basheer Ahmed, Chairman of the TAFI CSR Committee was the man who spearheaded this move and was ably assisted by Mr. H M Talha Rahman, Chairman of Tamil Nadu Chapter. 

While addressing the gathering Mr. Ajay Prakash said “As stakeholders in the travel and tourism industry, it is our duty to sensitize our people to the needs of differently-abled persons. Our airports and all other public places need to be geared to make travel easier for this segment." 

Mr. Hareendranathan while sharing the concern of TAFI on the improvement required in the facilities for differently abled passengers assured that AAI will provide all necessary facilities at the airport as part of its modernisation programme and congratulated TAFI for its noble gesture and implementation of CSR in true spirit. 

The invitees were later enthralled by Mr. Ilango and his team.  Mr. Ilango who is visually challenged since birth is an inspirational speaker and also holds the Guinness record for memorising 3000 songs in 4 different languages.
