Maharashtra Govt to give a Rs 4.5 crore uplift to Pune forts

Rs. 1.5 Crore to be spent on restoration of each of the 16th century forts in Pune – Sinhgad, Torna and Vishalgad, all related to the history of legendary Maratha warrior King Shivaji

The Maharashtra Archaeology Department along with Tourism and Cultural ministry, is to spend Rs 4.5 crore for the restoration of 16th century forts in Pune – Sinhgad, Torna and Vishalgad, all related to the history of legendary Maratha warrior King Shivaji.

As per the fort restoration plan under consideration of the Tourism and Cultural department, an amount of Rs 1.5 crore will be spent on each of these forts with the involvement of Maharashtra State Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

The corporation has already carried out a survey of these three forts to work out details of the projects that needs to be undertaken to provide proper access to roads and amenities, to boost the number of visitors.
