Air India is going to introduce four times a week service from New Delhi to Seoul via Hong Kong from August 1, 2010. According to sources, Air India currently operates direct services from New Delhi to Hong Kong using an A310 aircraft, which will be replaced with a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft to extend its service to Seoul, Korea. This information was divulged during the recently organised Visit Korea Year 2010-12 campaign in the capital.
Talking about the introduction of the new service, Tae Shik Kim, Director, New Delhi Office, Korea Tourism said that currently there are about six flights from India to Korea and this new service by Air India will further enhance connectivity between Korea and India. Korea Tourism can now expect huge number of tourists from India. Korea Tourism is planning to take this campaign to all metro cities in India in order to enhance tourist arrivals from India to Korea.
Elaborating on the mega events during Visit Korea Year 2010-12 period, Kim said that the country is preparing for various events to be held which include: Seoul Design Olympiad 2010; Korean F1 Grand Prix in Yeongam 2010; IAAF World Championship Daegu 2011; Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, Korean Wave (Korean Drama & Movie) festival, World Cultural Festival, International Tourism and Food Festival; Cheju Islands Ole Tracking Competition, DMZ World Peace Music Festival and Tae-an Environment Festival.
Kim also pointed that convention industry in Korea is also developing fast. The country has hosted 293 international conventions in 2008. Besides, it has two world class theme parks namely Lotte World and Everland. |
