Sressing on the need for economic development in Bihar, former President, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, on Tuesday outlined a framework for developing the state as a hub for spiritual tourism and a brand for agro products.
Kalam, who interacted with the legislators of Bihar, donned a teacher's hat and shared his vision on the need for economic development of the state.
Highlighting the presence of various significant spiritual centres like Bodhgaya, he stressed on making the province an international hub for spiritual tourism, which will help in generating large-scale employment.
"Bihar is fortunately blessed with spiritual tourism, centres of multi-religions, which have the potential of being international tourist attractions. It is essential to have a vision of tourist attraction with a target of one million international tourists every year and 10 million domestic tourists," said Kalam.
"Indeed Bihar has to have a five year tourism mission that will need infrastructure development, roads and transport systems and training of human resource towards global standards of tourism industry," he added.
