The three-day Asia Golf Industry Show—the biggest golf exhibition in the Indian subcontinent—Friday began in New Delhi. The show that is being participated by 125 countries was inaugurated by Minister for Tourism Nawang Rigzin Jora at Hotel Ashok. Director Tourism Farooq Shah told Greater Kashmir on phone from New Delhi that J&K is the partner state in the event.
According to Shah, speaking on the occasion Jora said J&K was trying its best to promote the golf tourism in the state in a big way. “He said that Gulmarg and Pehalgam golf courses shall be completed during the current year. And Jammu golf course shall also be thrown open shortly,” said Shah quoting Jora.
“Terming Kashmir as ‘golfers’ paradise,’ the minister said that the Royal Spring Golf Course is the best in India and that Kashmir is emerging as golfers’ destination, which is most affordable,” he added. Shah, who gave a presentation on ‘Kashmir- Golfers’ Paradise,’ said the state had all the facilities available for the tourists and “our main focus is on high-end tourism.” Meanwhile, a film on golfing in J&K was screened on the occasion.
To mention, the Asia Golf Industry Show is a specialized trade and industry show dedicated to serve the Asia’s golf industry, particularly that of countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives, with a total number of around 240 golf clubs in the region. The show is poised to be an important annual gathering for both Asia and India golf industry professionals to meet. |
