As talks are going on for the development of North East India tourist circuit, the government sanctioned a whopping Rs 12.81 crore to boost adventure tourism here. The Ministry of Tourism has allotted Rs 4.94 crore for the construction of an eco and adventure centre at Chemchi in Sikkim. It will also invest Rs 2.98 crore in a sports project at Aizwal in Mizoram in 2009-10. A high altitude trekking project worth Rs 0.94 crore is likely to come up at Sikkim.
