In view of the monsoon season, Jim Corbett National Park and Rajaji National Park in Uttarakhand have been closed for tourists. The parks, which house tigers and Asiatic elephants among others, will reopen on November 15, 2010. Every year, the parks are closed during the monsoon period to ensure security for the wildlife.

Jim Corbett National Park witnessed nearly 1, 30,000 tourists, including 6,688 foreigners, during the recently concluded tourist season, earning a revenue of Rs 4.04 crore. Similarly, Rajaji National Park witnessed 15,520 tourists, including 1,933 foreigners, which helped the administration earn revenue of Rs 33.30 lakh.
