Haryana has completed construction of 7,300 hotel rooms to cater to tourists arriving for the upcoming Commonwealth Games (CWG), to be held in October this year in the capital, even as neighbouring Delhi is struggling to reach its target.

Rajender Kataria, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, the nodal officer for districts falling in the National Capital Region (NCR), said that the number of hotel rooms was likely to increase to 7,500. The state was given a target of constructing 6,700 hotel rooms.

According to the Centre's decision, tax concession will be extended to those hotels which will be ready by July 31, 2010. The concession, allotted to one to four-star hotels, will continue for the next five years.

Kataria also held a meeting with owners of hotels which were constructed or under-construction in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rewari and Sonipat districts. He said that full cooperation was being extended to hotel owners in completing all kinds of formalities at the earliest.
