Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has announced that registration of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra, which will commence from July 1, 2010, will start from June 5, 2010. R K Goyal, Chief Executive Officer, SASB said that the registrations will be done through 121 designated branches of Jammu and Kashmir bank across the country. The Yatra will commence from both traditional Pahalgam and Baltal routes as per scheduled.

He added that registration of pilgrims from the Pahalgam route will not be allowed after August 22, 2010 because of the longer distance and travel time, while registration in respect of the Baltal route, which is much shorter, will close on August 23, 2010. The registration will be done on First-come-first-Serve basis. He also mentioned that the number of designated registration counters has been increased to 121 from 103 last year.
