Yusmarg which is about 45 kilometres from Kashmiri’s summer capital city Srinagar is presently witnessing tourist boom. The tourist rush this year, according to market observers here, has at least shot five times up as compared to last year.
Located in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, the place is attracting tourists from within and outside the state, as also from abroad.
“As Amarnath Yatra is in its full swing, local tourists avoid going to Pahalgam and Sonamarg. So Yusmarg is turning out to be one of the favourite destinations for the locals,” tour operators told GreaterKashmir.com.
At present there are two three-bedroom huts, four two-bedroom huts and a big dormitory owned by JKTDC. Some private accommodation is also available. There is also official accommodation of departments of Tourism, Fisheries, Irrigation, YDA and Forest Department.
Chief Executive Officer Yusrmarg Development Authority Ghalib Mohiudeen said: “We want to see Yusmarg an eco-friendly place.”
