The Delhi government is going all out to ensure that World Tourism Day, on September 27, turns out to be a day to remember for tourists and residents of the capital alike.
A pleasant surprise will await tourists at the airport, where they will be accorded a ceremonial Indian welcome, replete with garlands and tilaks. “It would be a great opportunity to send a message to the international community — that Delhi welcomes those visiting the city,” said Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra.
Another highlight of the day will be a cycle rally with nearly 200 bicycles. The rally will take place around the iconic Qutab Minar and ministers and bureaucrats will be among the participants. “It will be a seven-kilometre long rally; approximately 11 to 12 stops will be made before finishing it,” said Mishra.
