West Bengal to convert 480 acres of land worth Rs 3,650 crores into tourism destinations

Transformation of royal palaces into spanking hotels is also currently under process

The West Bengal tourism department on Thursday stated that it is planning to convert some 480 acres of unencumbered land worth Rs 3,650 crores into tourism destinations.

According to officials, West Bengal is soon going to have a brand new international airport at Bagdogra. The officials noted that the transformation of royal palaces into spanking hotels is currently under process.

West Bengal Tourism Secretary Vikram Sen said, "Two new sea ports at Ganga Sagar and Rasulpur are coming up soon to assist tourism in the region. We are also having green police and tourist police to ensure the safety and security of the tourists." Sen was addressing at the fourth edition of 'Destination East, Unveiling Eastern India Tourism' conference jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CCI) and the West Bengal government.

The meet witnessed participation by 73 tour operators from 19 countries namely USA, UK, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, France, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, Switzerland, Scottland, Nepal, Bhutan, South Africa, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Phillipines, New Zeland.
