The West Bengal government has undertaken a project to set up 65 motels in one year over national highways, state highways and other major roads connecting tourist destinations for the benefit of travellers and others, a state minister said today.
"Considering the problems faced by women in particular over highways, the project has been taken up as per instruction of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the convenience of the tourists and others vehicle-bound, especially the women," state Housing Minister Aroop Biswas said announcing the project here.
"The motels will have four-pronged facilities with lavatory, rest rooms, bus shelter and restaurant to benefit people in the mid-way," Biswas said.
