With DurgaPuja only a couple of months away, the West Bengal tourism department is ready with its package for the festive season.

The package begins from Mahalaya on October 4 which will provide people with an opportunity to offer tarpan. Special arrangements for boats and priests will be made to conduct the ritual. All one needs to do is shell out Rs 1250.

The state government is pro-active this time to catch the puja crowd and for that the tourism department is starting its puja package from Mahalaya.

One can even join in to pay homage to their ancestors by participating in the tarpan, but for that one needs to shell out Rs 1250 for the Mahalaya package. For that there will be special arrangements on the boats with priests to facilitate the ritual. Officials however are not sure, if people will actually join to offer tarpan.

Those who don't want to offer tarpan have the option of watching the ritual. This will be followed by a visit to Kumartuli where tourists will witness final touches being given to the idols. A launch will also be in place for visits to Dakshineswar and Belur Math.
