Viceroy Hotels plans major hotels in Chennai and Bangalore

The Hyderabad-based hospitality player has lined up investments of 1,200 Crores for 3 properties this year.

Viceroy Hotels Ltd, the Hyderabad-based hospitality player, is ready to add three properties in 2011, including two major hotels in Chennai and Bangalore, with a capital expenditure of Rs 1,200 crore as per a report in the Hindu Business line. 

The 387-room JW Marriott project coming up at MRC Nagar in Chennai, with an expenditure of Rs 650 crore, is nearing completion & is expected to to be launched in April 2011. The Bangalore project, which will again be part of the Marriott brand–Renaissance, is a 277-room project and is among the tallest structures with 22 storeys and 4.5 lakh of built-up facility & is supposed to be launched by the third or fourth quarter of 2011.

Mr P. Prabhakar Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of Viceroy Hotels said, “This will take the company inventory of hotel rooms up from 560 from three properties to 1,250 from six hotels. This includes two marquee properties in Chennai and Bangalore. This addition augurs well for the company and boost revenues as the new additions are coming up at prime locations in rapidly growing metros,”
