UPTDC imports 10 Swiss cottages for Maha Kumbh

These exclusive cottages are waterproof tents with wooden flooring and the tariff is Rs 12,000 per day; 42 other ordinary cottages on the mela campus, available for Rs 6,000 per day

Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPTDC) has imported 10 Swiss-style cottages made in Oman for Maha Kumbh. Tourism department has imported these makeshift cottages which comprise dining room, bed room, toilet and store.

DP Singh, senior manager of the Tent colony, told TOI "These exclusive cottages are waterproof tents with wooden flooring and the tariff is Rs 12,000 per day." He added that all sorts of facilities including Internet facility would be available to the guests.

He added, "A special reception counter has also been set up to attend to guests and those who want to make enquiries."

Tourism department will also be setting up 42 other ordinary cottages on the mela campus, available for Rs 6,000 per day.

Open air restaurants, tourist information centre and exhibitions will be other major attractions during Mahakumbh 2013 to attract and serve foreigners as well as domestic tourists.

UPTDC has decided to set up as many as 10 exclusive and 42 luxury Swiss cottages for tourists and all these cottages have been innovatively crafted using traditional as well as international skills and crafts.

Ordinary Swiss cottages offer adequate accommodation comprising fully furnished individual tents, each with a verandah and an attached bathroom with running water. The cottages have been furnished with modern gadgets.
