The UP Tourism department has trained several tourist guides as well as cab drivers to guide and assist people arriving in the state to take part in the Mahakumbh at Allahabad.

Regional tourism officer Avinash Mishra said keeping the possibility of increased demand for cab drivers and guides during Mahakumbh in view, the central government launched a scheme under which 520 graduate youths (270 each from Varanasi and Allahabad) had been selected to receive tourist guide training. These youths have been trained mainly to help pilgrims and tourists in Varanasi and Allahabad only.

Their training had started some months ago and they were granted certificates for completing the programme by the divisional commissioner CK Tiwari during a function on Saturday afternoon. Mishra said these youths would work as authorized guides in Varanasi and Allahabad during the period of Mahakumbh. The tourists and pilgrims can avail their services by contacting the counters of UP tourism at Cantonment railway station in Varanasi or at Mahakumbh fair site in Allahabad.
