Maintaining that Geo-climatic conditions of Jammu and Kashmir are best suited for conventional tourism, the Minister for Tourism and Culture Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora called for focused attention towards the sector. He said state has three distinct regions offering varied climatic conditions where the convention tourism can be promoted as round the year activity as per a report in Kashmir Observer.

This was stated by the Minister while addressing to the ‘Interactive Session’ with the board members of Indian Convention Promotion Bureau and Tour and Travel Organizations of Kashmir for holding national and international meetings, conferences and events in valley. The one-day interactive session was organized by the SKICC management. Jora called upon tour and travel to pool their resources for roping in their counter parts across the world to hold mega conferences and events. He said government would provide every possible assistance to them in this regard. 

Minister of State for tourism, Culture and Home Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani also participated in the conference. Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture Mr. Atul Duloo, Director Tourism Kashmir Mr.  Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director SKICC, Mr. G. N. Qasba, were among other senior officers attended the conference. The conference besides the members of ICPB was also attended by Vice President ICPB Mr. Rajiv Kohli and a large number of tour and travel operators of Kashmir. Jora said that such conferences between ICPB and State Tour and Travel Operators would provide a platform for promoting convention tourism in the state.
