Tura hill station in Meghalaya deprived of its tourism potential

Tura, the second significant hill town in Meghalaya after Shillong. However, the wonders of nature, go largely unnoticed as this beautiful spot does not find mention in any tourist brochure. 

"We have Pelga-Dre, one of the most heart-wetting water falls in the world; but no body knows about it. Yes we have not been able to promote the Garo Hills as a tourist destination," admits a young officer in the information and public relations department of the state.

Nevertheless, realizing the potential of tourism, the state government has of late been embarking upon numerous festivals with the onset of winter, to seduce in tourists to the warm, enchanting, ancient and beautifully serene Garo Hills.
