Tourist facilities to be ready in six months at Pulicat in TN

Work to create facilities for tourists, including a wooden boat jetty, angling pond and rest sheds, at Pulicat is expected to be completed in six months.

Sources in the Tiruvallur district administration said that of the 13 works undertaken for development of Pulicat, three have been completed. “Some are in progress and others are at various stages of tendering. We are expediting the work,” said a source. Toilet complexes inside Easwaran Temple complex and near Madha church at Naduvoor Madhakuppam have been completed. The government had released around Rs.2 crore for various works, including construction of parking lot, tourist information centre and installation of solar lighting and signages at Pulicat.

A desalination plant at Thonirevu village and an over head tank too are to be added as per a report in The Hindu by Deepa Ramakrishnan.

Fishermen belonging to three panchayats – Kottaikuppam, Lighthouse Kuppam and Pazhaverkadu -- had objected to a proposal by which a few of them would get employment. Each of the panchayat is insisting that the jobs should not be given to others. District administration sources said that the issue with fishermen would be sorted out soon.
