Tourist arrivals in Gujarat grew by 13 percent last year

State tourism dept introduced new trends such as agriculture tourism in addition to existing tourist attractions such as Saputara, the Rann of Kutch and religious places

The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) has said there has been a 13 per cent growth in the sector, with the number of visitors to the State crossing two crore in the last financial year.

The number of tourists has risen from 60 lakh in 2006 to 2.54 crore last year, said TCGL Chairman Kamlesh Patel at a road show in Goa today.

“While tourism grew at 6.5 per cent nationally, Gujarat grew at 13 per cent,” Patel said, giving credit to the Narendra Modi Government in the State.

He said the State Government has addressed all the grievances of the tourism sector and also introduced new trends such as agriculture tourism in addition to existing tourist attractions such as Saputara, the Rann of Kutch and religious places.
