Tourist Police Station opened in Fort Kochi

Due to rising number of crimes against foreign tourists, Kochi has set up its first police station solely for tourists. Kochi is hoping to address the rising problem with this police station as per a report in TOI.

In past year several foreign tourists have come under attack from the anti-social elements. The target usually is the woman tourists, traveling alone in the city. To address this growing crisis, Kochi has set up a tourists' police station at the Fort Kochi, an popular tourist attraction. Kochi police has already deployed several police personnel at major tourist spots in the city to ensure safety of foreign tourists.

Apart from these police personnel, Kochi has opened tourists'police station with 14 tourist policemen, ready to help tourists in any way possible. Police has gone a step further and launched awareness campaign in the city to educate locals. Locals are being told to contact police as soon as they witness any incident where foreign tourist has been victimized.
