Tourist Hotspots to be developed in 17 areas of Suburban Mumbai

The District Planning and Development Committee's (DPDC) has decided to develop 17 areas across Mumbai suburbs for tourist attraction as per a report in Mumbai Mirror. In a meeting held on Monday, chaired by District guardian Minister Naseem Khan, also decided to allocate Rs 6 crore for the coming financial year 2011-12 for the development of the 17 spots.

Kanheri Caves, Esselworld, Film City, Gorai beach, Madh Island, Manori beach, Aksa beach, Mandapeshwar caves, Erangal beach, Juhu Chowpatty, Aarey Colony, Mahakali caves, Gilbert Hill, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Bandra Band Stand, Jogeshwari caves and Powai Lake are popular among the tourists but lack amenities. The 17 tourist attractions after its inclusion as category C tourist spots, will receive funds on regular basis for the development of basic amenities and beautification.
