The natural calamity in Uttarakhand has not discouraged tourists and pilgrims from planning a journey to other places of tourism as well as religious importance in Himalayan region.
Only the passengers going for Kedarnath, Badrinath temples and nearby regions, were bound to cancel their bookings following the flash floods and land slides in Uttarakhand.
According to chief reservation supervisor, Cantonment railway station, Vimal Pandey, all the north-bound trains, specially Jammu Tavi express are going full and the waiting list in these trains is over hundred.
"The natural calamity has affected the passenger flow in some regions of Uttarakhand, but there is no declination in the passengers rush heading towards Amarnath Yatra, Vaishno Devi Shrine, and other religious as well as tourists destination in Himalayan regions.
The upcoming Amarnath Yatra is also pulling large crowd of passengers towards Jammu Tavi in Begumpura express. The waiting list is over 150 in the sleeper coaches while it is 30 to 40 in AC three-tier. The flow of passengers heading towards Himachal Pradesh, and hill stations in north-east has also not decreased, even slightly," he informed.
He further said, "Dehradoon Janta Express (train number 14265) is one of the major trains for Kedarnath and Badrinath temples. Till June 10, the reservations were full for the next one week in this train but after the incident in Uttarakhand, most of the people cancelled their reservations."
