The Kerala tourism department in association with Fortress Infrastructure Advisory Services, a state-level project management agency appointed by the Union tourism ministry, is identifying tourist destinations across five districts-Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod-to develop an integrated tourism circuit.
The project, estimated to cost around Rs 256 crore, also includes creating infrastructure facilities and identifying solid waste management issues along the major tourist destinations in the circuit. The Planning Commission has estimated that the development of the circuit can generate around 2 lakh direct and indirect jobs in these districts over a period of time.
