The Tourism Authority of Thailand has successfully conducted the “Amazing Thailand Roadshow 2011” in the cities of Mumbai and Chennai as part of its overall tourism promotional marketing strategy to further boost support from the Indian travel community.
Thailand retains its hold globally as a paradise for shoppers from across the four corners of the globe through a myriad of products and services matched by good quality and value for money proposition.
The 25 member delegation comprising hoteliers, resorts, spa’s and tour attractions interacted with over 600 Indian travel agents and tour operators during the two city roadshow held in Mumbai on 23rd of March and thereafter in Chennai on the 25th of March 2011. The national air carrier’s - Thai International Airways and recent entrant to India, Bangkok Airways were also part of the delegation meeting with the retail industry.
In line with India being a key market source for holiday makers and Indian corporate incentives, the Thai delegation was led by Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor for the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mr. Vichai Srikwan, Chairman of the Board for the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Mr. Pongsathorn Kessasamli, Executive Director for ASEAN Region, Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand said, "Our aim is to strengthen co-operation between TAT and our important business partners in the Indian travel industry, as well as key members of the media here. Moreover, we would like our business partners to be updated on the developments of our tourism industry, as we are confident that you will keep on recommending Thailand to your clients."
"In 2010, we accomplished to end our 50th anniversary year on a positive note, the number of international visitor arrivals to Thailand totaled 15.84 million, a good growth of 11.96 percent over 14.14 million in 2009. And for 2011, if there are no further global or other crises, TAT is targeting 16.5 million international visitor arrivals with projected revenue earnings of 625 billion Baht [+9%] (US$ 21 billion) in tourism revenue." further added Mr. Svetasreni.
