With the opening of the refurbished main runway from June 1 at the Mumbai airport, the departure delays will be cut. The reconstructed runway will also allow the airport to accommodate wide bodied aircraft like Airbus 380.
The two simultaneously operational runways will also help reduce departure delays by about 30 minutes according to airport officials.
The cross runway operations at Mumbai airport will resume for 14 hours giving more space for the departing flights. Now the landing can be in quick succession.
The main runway has been undergoing reconstruction since September 2010.
