Ten national hotel and tourism industry bodies have come together to form a Nasscom-styled tourism association called Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH).
The bodies believe this will help the industry put out a united front before the Union and State Governments on macro-issues as well as create awareness among the policy makers about the sector’s contributions to the Indian economy.
The ten industry associations include Adventure Tour Operators Association of India, Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India, Hotel Association of India, India Convention Promotion Bureau, Indian Association of Tour Operators, Indian Heritage Hotels Association, Indian Tourist Transporters Association, and Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, Travel Agents Association of India and the Travel Agents Federation of India.
Nakul Anand, President of the Hotels Association of India, and CEO, ITC Hotels, who will be the first chairman of FAITH, said, “We aim to address and collectively brainstorm on the macro dynamics of the industry to ensure tourism gets its rightful place in India’s growth story.” He added that a lot of issues that concern the tourism and hotel industry are at the State level and the association will work towards becoming one national voice of the tourism industry.
Sarabjit Singh, Vice-Chairman, FAITH, and Chairman Indian Tourist Transporters Association, added that the founder members having been working towards the setting up of FAITH since 2011.
