Tehri in Uttarakhand gets a budget of 60 crore to develop tourism infrastructure

The state would also get an adventure theme park, skiing centres, and facilities for water rafting

The State Government of Uttarakhand is looking to develop tourism infrastructure in the Tehri Lake and its surrounding areas. The Tourism Department has received a grant of Rs five crore from the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) to initiate the Eco-log Huts project. It has also received an in-principle approval from the MoT for another `five crore for development of a Water Adventure Centre and Floating Marina at Tehri. Further, the MoT has in-principle approved another `50 crore for development of the Integrated Mega Circuit there.

A meeting was held in this regard. While chairing the meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Alok Kumar Jain, Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, said "the Eco-task Force would plant trees to develop a green belt around the lake". He directed the officers concerned to present DPR for the Academy and other projects.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Tourism SS Sandhu, Additional Secretary Nitish Jha, Additional Secretary Finance MC Joshi and other senior officers.

Adventure sports activities would be extended to Pratapnagar and Jakhnidhar Tehsil. Around 80 acres of land bank is available with the Tourism Department located at Tewar Village, Goran Village, Khandgaon, Nanagaon, Koti Colony, Sirai and Chham.
