Taiwan is blessed with natural beauty and unique ecology that can be easily found in there. Also well-known for its “soft power” such as art, cuisine and hospitality, this small yet dynamic island country is full of resources for tourism and meetings. Moreover, Taiwan has long been known for its advanced development in IT and bio-technologies as well as industrial innovation. “Made in Taiwan” is a guarantee of innovative high quality products.

“Soft power” apparently creates a positive effect on tourism market, so visitor arrivals in Q1 have accelerated 26.36% over the same period last year. Nearly 9,000 visitors came to Taiwan for incentive travel. More and more tourists come to Taiwan to experience the essence of Chinese heritage in Asia. The Lonely Planet Guide has placed Taiwan amongst the 10 most highly recommended countries to visit in 2012, a proof that Taiwan has become a popular travel destination in the international market.

To boost incentive travel revenue, the Tourism Bureau officially launched a new subsidy policy for 2012~2013. To further encourage overseas enterprises and groups to launch inventive travel to Taiwan, the Taiwan Tourism bureau is offering grants and incentives such as cultural performances, planning assistance and souvenirs. In an effort to assist the business events industry, local authorities are offering subsidies with one-stop-service for event organizers.

In order to expand the scale of the MICE industry in Taiwan, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), has launched numerous cash subsidies for meeting and exhibition events to assist organizers in the bidding, promotion, and implementation stages, ranging from US$10,000 to 90,000 depending on the size of event.
