The well-known wildlife tourism campaign organisation, Travel Operators for Tigers, (TOFT),has announced that they have another nine wildlife lodges in 7 Tiger reserves gaining PUG environmental certification this season, three of these in Tiger reserves that TOFT has not focused on before. Satpura NP in Madhya Pradesh and Kaziranga NP in Assam.
By the end of the season, their audit team will have visited Gir, Corbett, Tadoba, Ranthambhore, Nagarhole and Bandipur and hope to add more eco-sensitive lodges from these parks, to the 28 they have already certified.
As the Founder Chairman, Julian Matthews stated. “It’s critical as TOFT attempts to steer India’s wildlife tourism community down a more sustainable path, that both Indian and foreign visitors, keen on seeing the country’s natural heritage, can rest assured when they book into one of these lodges that they are supporting conservation efforts, not hindering them’.
