Jean-Philippe Benoit, General Manager India, Swiss International Air Lines said,"With these additional flights, we respond to an encouraging increase in demand and considerably strengthen our commitment to the Indian market. Indian customers responded favourably to our new A330-300 service, launched last year. This product attracts additional travellers in all classes and supports our growth in this important market."

On its global network, the airline will also increase capacity on several European and intercontinental routes, increasing the transit options for travellers from India. For example, it will introduce Madrid as a new destination and a third daily flight to Barcelona. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the airline's intercontinental network will see its capacity raised by around 15 per cent. This means that globally, the airline will operate almost 130 flights a week more in the winter 2010/11 schedule, with a total of 2894 weekly flights.

From October 31, 2010 to March 27, 2011, the airline will serve 72 destinations (48 European and 24 intercontinental) in 39 countries with a fleet of 87 aircraft. More than 25 further points will be served from Zurich in collaboration with codeshare partners, and over 20 more destinations will receive non-stop service with charter subsidiary Edelweiss Air.
