An unknown person decamped with 1.45 lakh in cash from a hotel in Candolim.
Rajendra Saraf from Mumbai has complained to the Calangute police that on December 27 between 7.40pm amd 8.10pm, while he was out, an unknown person opened the main door and stole cash from the safe in the room.
On opening the locker Saraf found all his cashmissing and lodged a police complaint. Police have registered the case under Section 380 of IPC as per a report in TOI.
In another case, Ramchand Chandwani, a native of Rajasthan complained that on Thursday near the Calangute lifeguard tower, an unknown person stole his bag containing five mobile phones, 63,950 cash, a gold chain, a digital camera, three wrist watches and clothes, all worth 1,25,000.
Police have registered the offence under section 379 of IPC and police sub-inspector (PSI) Mahesh Kerkar is the investigating officer.
In a separate instance, lifeguards at Calangute caught a thief red-handed while he was making a getaway after robbing a bag of a tourist. On hearing the victim scream, alert lifeguards from the Calangute tower came to her rescue and caught the accused who was later handed over to the police.
