The Jammu and Kashmir Government has taken several steps to diversify the tourism activities under which potential destinations are being developed across the state to promote eco, adventure and heritage tourism.
This was stated by Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora while addressing the Annual Convention-cum-Exhibition on domestic tourism here yesterday.
The convention was organized by Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), which was chaired by Union Ministry for Tourism, Subodh Kant Sahay.
Delegates of tour travel operators of several states participated in the convention and presented their view points for promotion of domestic tourism in the country.
Jora, according to an official statement, said that the new initiatives are being taken to promote Eco, Convention, Golf and Adventure Tourism at the potential places.
He said for the purpose new golf courses are being developed while as eco-friendly infrastructure is being upgraded at all the scenic spots.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of ADTOI for pursuing domestic and foreign tourists to visit Jammu and Kashmir, adding that the state government would continue to extend all possible assistance to the association.
Jora said state received a large number of tourists during this season, which he said, indicates that the people across the world has realized that peace was returning in the state , especially in the valley of Kashmir. He hoped that the people of other states would continue to tour J&K and enjoy its enchanting beauty and splendor coupled with hospitality of the people of the state.
He said J&K government has launched several schemes under which incentives are being given to the people associated with the tourism-related activities for construction of guest houses and development of other attractions. He said this has helped in creation of tourism infrastructure facilities at newly developed tourist areas.
Informing that the state government has also launched a massive publicity campaign to showcase the places of tourist attraction in the state, the minister said in this regard road shows and exhibitions are being held within and outside the country round the year.
