Spices Board, the government agency for the promotion of Indian spices, is planning to market the taste and flavour of the country's spices among posh travellers coming to India.

An official of the Board, who is familiar with the developments of the project, which is branded under the name 'Flavourit', revealed the Board's marketing plans to TOI. The Board has submitted the proposal as part of the next five-year plan and is waiting for the approval.

"Flavourit will be meant for the tourists looking for authentic Indian spices. Although spices are easily available in the markets, finding good quality spices is a problem that is being faced by an average tourist visiting India." "We will focus mainly on north India which attracts the maximum number of international tourists. We will also launch this product in select tourist spots which premium customers prefer," he stated. "Our plan is to source products from farmer groups who ensure quality and perhaps 15% of the margin of the product will be offered to the customers," the official said.
