With the heavy influx of tourists to Goa during Christmas, MSRTC launches a limited period service to Goa till 1st January 2011. "Due to the huge demand during the festive season, we have decided to start this special service. The tickets for the semi-luxury buses, having a capacity of 40 passengers each, will be priced at Rs 549 per head," said a public relations officer (PRO).

"The buses will leave Mumbai at 5 pm and will go via Dadar, Kurla (Nehru Nagar), Panvel, Mahad, Chiplun, Kankavli, Kasal, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Banda, Patradevi and Mapusa to reach Panjim by 7 am the next day," he added. This service will only be available till January 1. Tickets for this service can be booked at all MSRTC reservation centres. Reservations can also be made online at MSRTC's official website, www.msrtc.gov.in 

In another development, MSRTC, which already runs five Mercedes buses on the Mumbai-Pune route, will on Tuesday add another of the buses to its fleet. The bus, complete with the latest suspension technology and comforts, will ply from Dadar to Swargate, Pune. It will leave Dadar at 7.30 am and 4 pm. Passengers will have to pay Rs 280 as fare. Apart from inducting new AC luxury buses in the fleet, The MSRTC is also expediting the process of shifting Dadar bus depot to a new location underneath the flyover. The new depot will have better passenger amenities, a call centre and an organized parking bay for buses leaving for Pune.
