South African Airways (SAA) has further increased its flight frequency between Mumbai and Johannesburg to a total of 7 flights a week, effective 03 October 2012 and subject to government approvals. This non-stop daily flight service from Mumbai to Johannesburg comes after the addition of the fifth weekly flight launched on 16 June 2012 and the sixth weekly flight due to start on 21 August 2012.
Travellers looking for convenient and faster direct flights will now have non-stop air service between South Africa and India. It also has the shortest travel time between India and South America with a flying time of 22 hours and 35 minutes from Mumbai to Buenos Aires.
Speaking on the development, Sajid Khan, Country Manager – India, South African Airways said, “With relationships between South Africa and India growing over the last three years, South African Airways has strategically worked towards meeting the demand in the Indian market. A positive reception to SAA’s fifth and sixth flight frequencies has spurred on the need for an additional flight. This increase in flight frequency is a testament to our commitment to the Indian market, giving the Indian customer the option of a direct flight between Johannesburg and Mumbai any day of the week”.
The Mumbai – Johannesburg route is serviced with an A330-200 Airbus, a fuel efficient aircraft, with 36 business and 186 economy class seats.
