Saxony- the cultural capital and one of the sixteen federal states of Germany, is placing amplified focus on one of the most important markets in the world- India. Visiting for matters of business and bilateral relations, Sven Morlok, Deputy Prime Minister of Saxony and State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport, will be in India from 14th until 19th November 2011.
Minister Morlok will have political and business meetings in Delhi and Mumbai. He will be accompanied by chief executives of the Saxon Economic Development Corporation and the Tourism Marketing Company of Saxony.
Minister Morlok stated on arrival in Delhi, “I have come to India, one of the most dynamic economies in the world today, to introduce the excellent opportunities that Saxony provides both to business investors and travellers who are interested to discover one of the most fascinating regions in Europe.”
Saxony, with a surface of 18,500 km² approximately half the size of the Indian State Kerala, is home to 4.1 million people and looks back over a history of more than one thousand years. Located in the South-East of Germany, it is neighbor to Poland, the Czech Republic and Bavaria right in the centre of Europe.
Tourism in Saxony has enjoyed substantial growth over the last ten years. With 6.4 million guest arrivals in hotels and 16.7 million overnights, Saxony is today one of the most popular holiday regions in Germany and the cultural capital owing to unparalleled variety of historic architecture, world famous musicians, castles, art museums and galleries.
